Vanessa Meade, PsyD, LCSW, is a U.S. Army/Gulf War veteran, a former Alaska State Trooper, and lives in Anchorage, Alaska. She has a doctorate in psychology and is a licensed clinical social worker. The focus of her doctoral studies was mindfulness-based practices with women veterans. She also teaches Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), is a recognized leader of Sensory Awareness, and facilitates mindfulness-based retreats and programs. Vanessa is a facilitator for Veteran’s PATH (, a non-profit that works to build a community of support for veterans, offering mindfulness, wellness, and meditation tools.  She is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Alaska-Anchorage in the School of Social Work and has also worked as a clinician/therapist in community mental health agencies and juvenile justice facilities.
