Ry has been working professionally with “marginalized” and “at-risk” youth and adults for over twenty years. Currently he is the Intervention Specialist for the Columbia County Department of Community Justice, serving both youth and adults involved in the Justice System. Prior to this he was a Juvenile Counselor for 10 years and the Treatment Leader for the Elements Program, serving high-risk incarcerated youth on the North Oregon Coast. He has also served as a volunteer Chaplain for Hospice and the No One Dies Alone (NODA) Program, which is dedicated to “providing caring, bedside companionship for dying patients who are alone at the end of life”.
Ry is a trained Contemplative Psychotherapist and graduate of Naropa University’s MA in Contemplative Psychotherapy Program. He is also a graduate of the Upaya Institute’s Chaplaincy Program and was Ordained as a Chaplain by Roshi Joan Halifax in March 2013.
